Hello & welcome!I'm Daniel Walker, primary Health & Wellness coach at Trailhead Wellness. I look forward to connecting with you more. For those of you curious about my background, my journey with coaching began when I completed the Master Certified Wellness Coach certificate through Catalyst Coaching an NBHWC approved training program. My decision to pursue coaching was inspired my time as a supervisor for the Children's Ski School for Purgatory Ski Resort near Durango, CO, in operations, transport, guiding with a wilderness therapy company in Colorado & Utah, and as a professional ski instructor for many years at Snowshoe Mountain in WV. I hold a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation Management from Middle Tennessee State University and completed a portion of my education through the University of South Australia in Adelaide, SA. I have also gained a great deal of experience teaching English in South Korea. As part of my own wellness journey, I hiked the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage through France and Spain in 2015 and the Tour du Mont Blanc through France, Italy, and Switzerland in 2018. I have a strong belief in the healing power of the outdoors as well as the profound importance of the parallels found in journeys we take that are mental alongside physical. I decided to pursue a journey towards health and wellness coaching 2024 after recovering from a health crisis of my own from 2022-2023. Health and wellness challenges can be lonely, isolating, confusing, and overwhelming. The medical system isn't always easy to navigate on one's own. Before my own recovery process began, I encountered a number of confusing, conflicting, and counterproductive diagnoses that left me feeling discouraged, confused, and at times, scared. Doctors and health professionals weren't always sure how to help me holistically and my family and friends were not always sure how to support me. Through the encouragement of some of my family, friends, and connecting with others who had similar experiences, I slowly found my way back to my own path to wellness. Moving forward in my own life, I have realized that I want to help others. If you're navigating health and wellness challenges in your own life, you don't have to do so alone. My hope is to be a source of support as you find your way along your own path towards wellness. - Daniel |
