Inner Alchemy Counseling takes its name from the ancient science and art of alchemy, a process in which one attempted to turn base materials, like lead, into something precious, such as gold.
Thinking of ourselves through the metaphorical lens of alchemy, as humans, we develop various layers of selves over the course of our lives, influenced by our relationships, societies, and cultures in which we live. When we, as humans, attempt to transform our internal "lead," (what Carl Jung called the shadow or most vulnerable parts of ourselves), into "gold," (that which is most authentic and valuable within us), then we may begin to feel we are living more in alignment with our true values, or what Brene Brown calls "wholehearted living". This "transformation" can occur through the self-reflection, observing "what is" with compassion, and making shifts in our perspective, mindset, and behaviors. As a counselor, I see counseling as a collaborative process and relationship; one in which I strive to provide a space that allows you, the client, to be heard, cared for, and provided an opportunity to identify what is it you'd like to work on and support you as you make helpful shifts. |
