During an Ecotherapy class in graduate school, I became acquainted with Andy Goldsworthy's work. Although it could be considered more "fine art" by some, I see Andy's work as therapeutic, for him as the co-creator with nature, and for us, the observers and onlookers. Many of the lessons Andy brings into his work can be brought into our own lives: to work with the resources available to us, to be adaptive to the inevitability of change, and to not be too attached to our work. What emotions come up for you while watching him work? What lessons can we take away from what we're witnessing? For a personal challenge, spend time outside today, observing, interacting, exploring, playing, and co-creating.
